Fit Five: Jennifer

Today’s Fit Five Friday features Jennifer from New York. Let’s see what she has to say about health, fitness, and her body.

1. What do you love about your body?

I like that I am not skin and bones, never have been, never will be. I love my curves and have embraced them to the fullest. I love that I am on the taller side so I have some wiggle room for when I gain or lose weight, it’s not as noticeable.

2. What would you like to change about your body?

I would like to pay more attention to my body, go to the gym more, eat better foods so that I can feel better about myself and look better. Hopefully that will pay off and I can lose the 20 lbs I have wanted to lose for a few years now.

3. Have you ever been or are you currently on a diet?

I have been on many diets, the more recent one was the AdvoCare 24 day challenge. My sister (lives in AZ, and is 5’2” 102 lbs) started selling their products and they have gone over well on the west coast and I wanted to see how I would do on it, because she knows I have struggled with my weight for some time. It was definitely a challenge for me, and a drastic change. Although I did do well on it, lost over 15 inches and just about 12 lbs, as soon as I went off of it, I gained it back. The only reason I could not keep up with the AdvoCare products was the price. Way too expensive for a person that works and a non-profit organization. I am currently not on a diet per se, but I do have salads and fruit for lunch more days and I am not eating fried foods anymore due to digestive issues.

4. Have you ever or do you currently belong to a gym?

I do belong to Planet Fitness. Over the summer I was there 5 times a week and doing well with it. I am currently working full time and going to school part time and haven’t gone as much as I would like, but I do plan on getting back in the swing of things with a 3-day commitment to myself.

5. What does fitness mean to you?

Fitness means no matter what size, you could out run a zombie in a zombie apocalypse. In all seriousness, while watch The Walking Dead on Sunday I thought to myself… could I really be able to do what they are doing without hesitation? I answered probably not. I would like to know and believe in myself that I would be able to protect myself, not only in that situation, but in other situations.

Bonus: What is your current fitness goal?

My fitness goal from here on out is to be able to look at myself in the mirror and be proud of the person I am. Hopefully I can make the changes I would like to change and maintain a healthy living style with all that I have going on in my life.
