Fit Five Friday: Laura

Today’s Fit Five Friday features Laura from New York. Let’s see what she has to say about health, fitness, and her body.

1. What do you love about your body?

My skin – blessed with pretty nice, smooth, skin.  And I can tan nicely (in moderation!).

2. What would you like to change about your body?

My waistline – needs to be smaller!

3. Have you ever been or are you currently on a diet?

On a life style change – not a diet (Weight Watchers). Learning to make the right choices, fight the cravings, change behaviors. This has been fairly easy, but it takes a long time to do.  Increase my activity by A LOT!

4. Have you ever or do you currently belong to a gym? 

No gym. Have a treadmill at home – we have become best friends! We see each other almost daily for a good chat. Actually, it’s the high-energy tunes that drive me on. I alternate running/jogging with walking – typically walk ¼ mile, run ½ mile, walk ¼ mile – for 3 miles in one session.  Usually 5 times/week.  Walking at work, too, with a pedometer.

5. What does fitness mean to you?

Being able to do what I want to do physically with ease and no pain.  This is not always easy now – I do have growing pains! Arthritis in the knees, hands.  Eight bone spurs. I will likely need to give up softball and kickball soon, but am planning on replacing these activities with lower impact sports, like golf and biking.

Bonus: What is your current fitness goal?

Find those replacement activities worth my time, stay active, keep the current weight loss OFF!  I don’t want that back!  Besides, I’ve had to replace my wardrobe and can’t afford to do that again!
