Fit Five: Julie

Today’s Fit Five Friday features Julie from New York. Let’s see what she has to say about health, fitness, and her body.

1. What do you love about your body?

I have always really liked my arms.

2. What would you like to change about your body?

I would love to get back to my pre-baby stomach.

3. Have you ever been or are you currently on a diet?

I’ve never done any drastic diets but always feel like I restrict myself. I feel like I think about food constantly.

4. Have you ever or do you currently belong to a gym? 

I belonged to a gym throughout my entire 20s, and worked out often. I used to love taking aerobics classes, especially step classes. I tried spinning once but hated it. It was way too loud and sweaty and I felt pressured to keep up with the entire group even though I wanted to take it easier. I don’t feel that it had a huge impact on my weight, but I do feel like I was very physically fit back then. I have zero desire to join a gym again. I think I burned myself out.

5. What does fitness mean to you?

Fitness means not huffing and puffing when you walk up the stairs. It’s about feeling strong and healthy.

Bonus: What is your current fitness goal?

My fitness goal is to be able to keep up with my 16 month old. I feel like I’m constantly getting up and down off the floor to play. I’d love to have the energy to spring up and not feel like I’m ancient.
