1. What do you love about your body?
Although I used to hate it, I love my “athletic” build. I don’t have to do much to be reasonably lean and muscular. When I can get into a workout routine, I am able to tone and trim very quickly. Generally, I don’t gain or lose weight quickly, so as long as I keep in control, my body cooperates.
2. What would you like to change about your body?
I’d like to change the fact that I have a bum foot. It is an injury that has plagued me my entire life and has sidetracked me multiple times for 12+ months. It always seems that as soon as I get into a good routine and enjoy doing an activity that I injure it again. With my recent injury and recuperation, I’m taking a really good look at my activities and trying to find new ways to stay fit and healthy for the long term.
3. Have you ever been or are you currently on a diet?
No, I am very against diets. From my observations, they just don’t work. My husband and his family have gone on and off of fad diets throughout their lives, and it’s always a quick fix. I think its most important to eat reasonably and be active, and that is what I try to do. I also try to pass this philosophy on to my kids.
4. Have you ever or do you currently belong to a gym?
Our family belongs to a local health club / pool / fitness center / daycare. It’s wonderful because the pool is inside and there big, Olympic-sized pool as well as a baby pool. We go as a family at least once per week to swim. I usually go on my own 2-3 times per week to use the gym. I also have fitness equipment in my house for when I feel like staying home.
5. What does fitness mean to you?
In the next eight weeks, I’m hoping to be able to walk again without a leg brace. After that, I’m ready to get into some new sports for me, swimming and cycling. My goal is to get active in these sports and learn to enjoy what they have to offer.
Bonus: What is your current fitness goal?
Being healthy. To me that means I fuel my body well and I stay active. You don’t have to be a star athlete to be fit.
