Fit List

It’s that time of year – when my loved ones ask what I want for Christmas. My answer? Check out my fit list!

I’ve been wanting a BOSU ball for awhile now. I used one toward the end of my physical therapy. If you’re unfamiliar, a BOSU ball basically looks like one of those stability balls, but cut in half and mounted on a wide base. You can stand on the inflated site and do movements (with or without weights), or you can flip it over and practice your balancing skills. A BOSU ball is a great way to work your core. Trivia: the product name comes from “BOth Sides Up,” a reference to the two ways the ball can be used.

Kettlebells are one of my favorite workout tools. I started out swinging the Jillian Michaels version, which is convenient in that it has several plates that can be removed or added, depending on your strength and what moves you’re doing. But it’s also a pain – literally. I ended up with massive bruises on both arms because of the sharp edges. Then I found the Bob Harper  version, and I love it! It’s contoured to fit your arm, and it’s made of a nice soft rubber material. I’ve been swinging the 10-pound version for awhile now, and I’d like to upgrade to the 20-pound version.

Finally, I’d love an iPod Shuffle to accompany me on my training walks for my half marathons. I used to have a Nano, but it died after my last half. I upgraded to an iPod Classic so I could store all of my music, but it’s just too large and unwieldy when I’m out pounding the pavement. A shuffle is the perfect size – and holds the perfect amount of heart-pumping music.

What are your fitness wishes for this holiday season? Tell me in the comments!
