Have you guys ever tried one of those plus-size subscription clothing services? A few years ago, I tried Gwynnie Bee. It was okay. I definitely loved getting clothes delivered right to my door, but I ended up sending almost every piece back. They were either too big, too small, not the right cut, or not my style.
A few weeks ago, I got a flyer in the mail for Dia & Co. I almost threw it away, but then I read up on it. It’s not just a subscription service. The clothes still get delivered right to your door, but they’re selected by a professional stylist! You answer a whole bunch of questions about your body and your style, and for a $20 styling fee, you get your first box. Then, you have five days to try everything on, keep what you want (they charge your account), and send back what you don’t want (in a pre-paid envelope).
The first box was on my door step within two days. Check out what I got!
This is the Junarose Lois Ruched V-Neck Blouse in Navy, size 2X. The size was just right, and I loved the feel of the material. But the navy wasn’t doing anything for me. (I know it’s a little hard to see that it’s navy, since I’m wearing dark leggings, too.) I sent it back.
This is the Jessica Simpson Abigail Top, also in 2X. I LOVED the color. The fit was pretty good (a little snug around the belly/hips). The cutouts and the lacing just weren’t me, though. I sent it back.
This is the Molly&Isadora Louisville 3/4 Sleeve Fit and Flare Boat Neck Dress. When I took this out of the box, I fell in love! But it’s not the right proportions for my body. I didn’t like the length, and the waistband hit me at the wrong place. I sent it back.
And these are the Molly&Isadora Leroy Skinny Jeans. They fit like they were made for me! I want them in six different washes, please. I kept these.
The box also came with a dangly gold necklace, which I also sent back. (I rarely wear necklaces.) So, out of five things, I kept one. I sent my stylist detailed feedback on what worked and what didn’t, and why, and I’ll get a new box of clothes next month. This service is especially great for someone like me who lives far away from plus-size brick and mortar stores. Of course, I wish that I could just pop into any boutique and pick stuff off the rack. But until more companies realize the money they’re losing out on by not catering to the plus-size community, this is a fun way to try new styles and update my wardrobe. All from the privacy of my own home!
